Nonprofit News: You Asked, We Listened
By Gabrielle Butler, Vice President of Community Engagement
For the first time in our history, the Oklahoma City Community Foundation will offer general operating support for its Community Grants: Opportunities for Children, Access to Health Care, Services for Older Adults, and Culture and Community.
Over the past several months, we have heard from many of you, and the message is clear – you are seeing dramatic increases in requests for services and, in many cases, a decrease in funding. This shift to operational support is our intentional response to the call. It affirms our commitment to invest in our communities’ most pressing needs.

OCCF’s Jennifer Meckling meets with Skyline Urban Ministries staff.
Our goal is to empower you, our community’s nonprofits, to create the most meaningful impact for the populations and communities you serve.
General operating support provides you with the resources necessary to sustain your missions. Beyond focusing on programs and sponsorships, this type of grant offering supports your ability to carry out daily operations critical to your success. This means you can add a part-time staff person to help manage intake for a growing backlog of clients or ensure an after-school program has enough materials for a mural project. You can hire a consultant to help conduct training for new board members or provide working capital needed to update an outdated technology system. Our goal is to empower you to create the most meaningful impact for the populations and communities you serve.
OCCF Community Grants are made possible through the generosity of our donors who choose to invest in this place and the people who live here. We are grateful to honor their intention to support communities in addressing the challenges we are facing right now while building opportunities for a brighter future.
We encourage you to learn more about our Community Grants by visiting occf.org/nonprofits/grants. OCCF is committed to providing a place for the voices of our nonprofits to land. We hope to hear from you on how we can help beyond being a philanthropic partner.
