Our Commitment to You

At the Oklahoma City Community Foundation, we are committed to bringing together people from across the community who want to invest in this place and the people who share it.

Our Mission

The mission of the Oklahoma City Community Foundation, a nonprofit public charity, is to serve the charitable purposes of its donors and the charitable needs of the Oklahoma City area through the development and administration of endowment and other charitable funds with the goal of preserving capital and enhancing value.

The mission will be fulfilled by pursuit of these goals:

  • Provide convenient, efficient, and effective ways through which donors can contribute assets to charitable purposes.
  • Encourage donors to create funds that will benefit the community both now and in the future.
  • Advocate for the development of endowment funds and provide appropriate means by which permanent endowment funds can be built and wisely managed to provide long-term support.
  • Develop restricted and unrestricted community endowments which shall be used to develop, facilitate, coordinate and enhance services that meet the changing needs of the community.

Our Vision

The Oklahoma City Community Foundation values integrity, stewardship and collaboration. We strive to be enlightened leaders with a long-term perspective of community issues and opportunities, and we encourage and assist donors’ philanthropy for the benefit of the community.

Our Variance Power

In accepting a contribution to any fund, the Trustees of the Oklahoma City Community Foundation commit to the donor that the contribution will be protected for the charitable purpose originally intended. Funds received by the Oklahoma City Community Foundation are subject to Variance Power, described by U.S. Treasury Regulations as the power of the governing board (Trustees of the Oklahoma City Community Foundation) to modify any donor restrictions as to distributions if they determine them to become unnecessary, incapable of fulfillment, or inconsistent with the charitable needs of the community. This assures donors that if the charitable purpose of their contribution becomes impractical or impossible, the distributions will be directed to similar purposes in the community.

“I don’t believe there’s any other resource in a community that brings people together to contribute and create impact more than a community foundation. We work with nonprofits. We work with civic leaders. We work with individuals, families and businesses and bring all of those parties together for one reason—to share and invest in a place and the people who live here.”
