What Is a Nonprofit Endowment Fund?

A Nonprofit Endowment Fund is a permanent fund at the Oklahoma City Community Foundation with a nonprofit or specific charitable purpose designated as the beneficiary. Designed to help sustain area nonprofits, this program has been providing reliable, annual support to the community for more than 50 years.

Why Establish a Fund with OCCF?

CLOSE ACCORDION
Long-term Sustainability

Annual distributions provide a stable and predictable source of income you can rely on.

Flexible Gift Acceptance

We accept a wide variety of gifts to make giving easy and effective.

Professional Expertise

We can help grow your endowment through planned giving services, development resources, sound investment policies and technical assistance.

Network of Donors

We can help you reach a broad network of donors and professional advisors through promotion and awareness of the endowment program.

How We Distribute

Each year, we calculate the nonprofit’s annual distribution based on 5% of the fund’s average market value for the previous 12 quarters. This averaging allows fund distributions to remain more consistent during highs and lows in return markets.

Create an Endowment

New Organizations

With a minimum gift of $40,000, we can help you create a fully endowed fund that provides a grant of at least $2,000 each year.

Organizations with an Existing Endowment

We can help you or a donor establish a designated fund to support a specific program area or a named fund honoring the donor or a loved one with a minimum gift of $20,000.

Grow Your Endowment

Secure Your Gift

Gifts come in all shapes and sizes. A single donor may establish the fund, or it may be several donors contributing smaller amounts, so put together a plan and take it one step at a time.

Is your donor writing a check?
Be sure to have donors include the nonprofit endowment fund name on their check!

Make it Grow

The matching grant program is a powerful way to encourage your donors to give and grow your endowment even faster!

We'll Manage It

We process all gifts to the fund, mail acknowledgments to donors and provide you with annual fund reports of gifts, distributions and investment performance.

You can access your fund balance, gifts, distribution history and quarterly investment performance 24/7 in your fund portal.

Don't Turn Away Complex Gifts

We can help you accept nearly any asset to your endowment fund, so talk to us before declining a complex gift from a donor. We’ve helped nonprofits like you accept all kinds of gifts from real estate and securities to retirement plan assets, life insurance and even cryptocurrency.

Increase Your Visibility

By partnering with us, we can help you reach a broad network of donors and professional advisors through promotion and awareness of your endowment.
