With more than 30 years of experience leading operations, consumer services and regulatory affairs in the energy and telecommunications industries, COMSTAR Advisors CEO Sam Combs understood the meaning of hard work. Well respected in the business world, Sam also recognized that others in the community were less fortunate. Sam and Rita felt that it was their obligation to give back to their community to help meet the needs of others.
Sam, along with his wife Rita, established an advised fund with the Oklahoma City Community Foundation to better equip themselves with the knowledge of charitable giving opportunities.
The community foundation introduced them to several nonprofit organizations, and one of the beneficiaries of the Combs’ generosity is the Urban League of Greater Oklahoma City. This nonprofit advances social and economic equality for minorities in Oklahoma City through workforce training and after-school educational programs. Sam and Rita have been generous givers throughout the community. “The Oklahoma City Community Foundation helps us build our charitable impact through a broad range of resources and opportunities,” Sam said.
