Nonprofit Spotlight – Oklahoma Parkinson’s Alliance

March 2025

Providing support for Parkinson’s patients and their families, the Oklahoma Parkinson’s Alliance offers therapy, education and support, continuing to fulfill its mission of inspiring hope and transforming life for Parkinson’s patients and families in Oklahoma.

Since its inception in 2004, the Oklahoma Parkinson’s Alliance has been a leading resource in Oklahoma, operating as the largest non-profit Parkinson’s resource.

Parkinson’s, a progressive neurodegenerative disorder, causes a variety of symptoms, from affecting balance and movement to cognitive abilities. OPA provides exercise and speech therapy programs across the state to patients and support groups for those affected by the disorder.

Recently, OPA has begun offering a “Mini-Conference” to showcase the culmination of their work. At this conference, they bring patients and their families together, connecting them with resources and organizations across the state. They even offer in-person exercise therapy (left) and a sneak peek at their Speak Out program.

Through their strong partnership with the Oklahoma City Community Foundation, OPA has been the beneficiary of several community grants that have supported them in continuing to offer exemplary service to our community, along with their continued partnerships with other organizations. In 2020, the Alliance set its sights on sustainability by establishing an endowment that will provide annual, reliable, sustainable funding for the organization. Since then, OPA has grown its fund more than ten times its original investment through strategic planning. The organization is currently leveraging a Kirkpatrick Family Fund match to grow its fund even more toward ongoing, sustaining support.
