For youth facing an increased risk of becoming unhoused, disconnected or experiencing unhealthy circumstances, Pivot is a safety net.
By providing programs and services that focus on counseling, educational and vocational services, prevention, intervention and diversion services, and overall well-being, Pivot is not just a safe place to live, it’s a turning point for youth.
Less than 10 years after a group of visionary leaders established Pivot in 1972, the organization opened an endowment fund at OCCF with substantial community support. Through continued perseverance and leveraging matches from their earliest days, the fund has grown to provide annual revenue of more than five times the original gift, and the fund continues to grow year after year.
Like its endowment, Pivot has grown and evolved since their beginning, adding innovative programs including life-skills education and its tiny homes independent living community. Most recently, they introduced Pivot Preserves, a trauma-informed job training program where youth in their program can learn how to interact in the workforce in a protected environment and create a launching pad for their futures.
