With love in the air, the Oklahoma City Ballet geared up for the Valentine’s season through a time-honored tradition – a fresh rendition of Swan Lake.
Bringing this classic to OKC takes determination, conviction and practice—three things the OKC Ballet has plenty of. Before kicking off their dual-weekend performances earlier this month, they opened one of their practices to the public, providing an opportunity to experience the troupe’s magic and talent for those unable to attend or looking for a deeper connection to the performance.
Since its founding in 1972, the Oklahoma City Ballet has long been the city’s resident dance company at the Civic Center Music Hall. Producing four main-stage productions each season, the Ballet attracts talented dancers from around the world.
The magic doesn’t stop there, however. The Ballet also tours Oklahoma and surrounding states and engages the community through dance classes for all ages at the Oklahoma City Ballet Yvonne Chouteau School. Through its community engagement programs, the Ballet encourages “artistry and athleticism in students across the state.”
A long-standing partner of OCCF, the OKC Ballet leverages grant dollars and donor-driven campaigns to bring this great programming to Oklahoma. With an eye toward the future, they’ve established several endowments through the Foundation to ensure both community programs and dancer services have sustainable funding so they can focus on continuing to deliver world-class dance to Oklahoma City.
