March Matchness at OCCF

March Matchness at OCCF

March has arrived, and at OCCF, it’s all about the Matchness! Since 1979, the Kirkpatrick Family Fund and other generous donors have offered nonprofits the opportunity to leverage matching funds to establish or grow an endowment fund at OCCF.

In FY24, the Kirkpatrick Family Fund awarded $1.1 million in matching grants, inspiring donors to contribute more than $4 million to nonprofit endowments. For nonprofits in our community, that means reliable, sustainable support for years to come.

How It Works

Nonprofits with an Existing Endowment | The Kirkpatrick Family Fund Matching Program offers nonprofits with an endowment at OCCF the unique opportunity to apply annually to maximize donations with a 3:1 match. You set your goal for the year, and for every $3 you raise, the Kirkpatrick Family Fund will contribute $1.

Nonprofits Establishing a New Endowment | For nonprofits establishing a new endowment fund at OCCF, the Kirkpatrick Family Fund offers a special matching opportunity: a match of $15,000 for an organizational raise of $25,000, totaling $40,000 to establish the fund.

How to Apply | Kirkpatrick Family Fund Matching Grant applications are reviewed on a quarterly basis with the next application deadline June 1. If you are considering applying for a match, please reach out to our Program Director, Jennifer Meckling.  If you do not qualify for a Kirkpatrick Family Fund match, we can help you identify other possible matches for your endowment campaign.

Your Success Means Our Success

At OCCF, we’re here to help your matching campaign succeed. We promote all current matches in our Endowed Nonprofit Directory and on the Giving Hub so OCCF’s donors can easily access these opportunities and make their gift go further.

In addition, your organization’s nonprofit directory profile will feature a “Match Opportunity” banner, along with details about the match goal and deadline. We also provide you with QR codes and short links directly to your endowment donation page, which you can promote on your website, flyers or in email signatures. We’ll handle the tax receipts for gifts made through these links so you can focus on personally thanking your donors without the back-office hassle.

By educating your current and potential donors about matching opportunities and ensuring no potential matches are overlooked, you can grow your support and build your loyal donor base.

More Matching News

In other matching news, we’ve recently introduced Double the Donation! Many employers across the U.S. and beyond offer donation matching to their employees. This widget allows nonprofits and donors to search for participating employers and access matching gift forms when available. The Double the Donation search bar can be found in the header of the Giving Hub and can be accessed before or after making a gift.

Matches are a powerful, strategic tool that can encourage donors to give more and expand their impact. By educating your current and potential donors about matching opportunities and ensuring no potential matches are overlooked, you can grow your support and build your loyal donor base.
