Longtime Lawton resident and Lawton Business Women’s Club (LBW) member Nell Franklin established the Nell Franklin Scholarship through a planned gift to the LBW. The Nell Franklin Scholarship fund was managed by the Lawton Business Women’s Past Presidents club prior to the fund moving to the Lawton Community Foundation in 2016. This scholarship encourages graduating high school females from any Lawton high schools to pursue an undergraduate degree at Cameron University or Great Plains Technology Center (Lawton Campus).

- Applicants must be a graduating high school senior form one of the three Lawton high schools.
- Applicants must be a female.
- Unweighted GPA greater than or equal to 2.5.
- Applicants must plan to attend Cameron University or Great Plains Technology Center in Lawton, OK.
Preferences in Scholarship Recipient Selection
An eligible applicant must attend Cameron University or Great Plains Technology Center. The scholarship selection committee will give equal consideration to academic performance and leadership/participation in high school clubs, extra-curricular activities and community service. Applicants’ Nell Franklin scholarship application/essay, resume, transcript, and letter of recommendation will be used to conduct the review.
Applicants will be required to submit the following as components of the Nell Franklin Scholarship application:(1) an essay (topic TBD), (2) one letter of recommendation from a high school teacher, counselor, community leader or athletic coach, (3) a resume, and (4) a transcript.
Scholarship Type and Status
Is a one-time award. Recipients may be considered for additional years of scholarship funding, but the recipient must reapply for the scholarship. No one student may receive the scholarship more than four years.
