Grants and Matching Grant Opportunities Available for Lawton-area Nonprofits

Young men in a meeting
Participants of the Young Men in Action program gather at a community event. In 2019, the Lawton Community Foundation awarded a $2,500 Community Grant to support the organization’s character and leadership development program serving Central Middle School and Lawton High School.

The Lawton Community Foundation is inviting charitable organizations and entities of state and local government to apply for grants supporting projects benefiting Lawton and the surrounding area.

Community Grants of up to $5,000 will be awarded to charitable organizations and entities of state and local government to support new projects, or significant expansions to existing projects, that improve the quality of life and provide opportunities for a broad range of Lawton-area citizens.

Matching Grants of up to $5,000 will be awarded to charitable organizations that have an endowment fund at the Lawton Community Foundation, or organizations interested in establishing an endowment fund. Eligible organizations must have programming that benefits Lawton and the surrounding area, and are required to raise $5,000 to receive a Matching Grant of $2,500 to $5,000. The deadline to apply is July 1, 2020.

In 2019, the Lawton Community Foundation awarded a total of $56,844 in Community Grants to 16 organizations and announced Matching Grant opportunities for 14 charitable organization endowment funds, which have until June 30, 2020, to complete their $5,000 fundraising goal.

“It’s now more important than ever to support projects that work to improve the quality of life for our citizens, especially in times like these,” said David Towe, president of the Lawton Community Foundation Board of Trustees. “The Lawton Community Foundation is proud of the donors who chose to provide assistance and stability to the hardworking nonprofits serving our community.”

Both Community Grant and Matching Grant applications must be submitted online by July 1, 2020. Visit www.lawtoncf.org for more information, including grant guidelines for both programs. Interested organizations can gain access to applications by emailing a brief explanation of your project to Jennifer Stewart.
