Longtime Oklahoma City resident George Records has always had a heart for giving back to his community. George served as a First Lieutenant Strategic Air Command pilot in the United States Air Force, and upon completing his military service, he became the Midland Group Chairman, Director of MidFirst Bank and Director of the Dean A. McGee Eye Institute, all in Oklahoma City. In addition, he served on several boards during his successful business career, including the Oklahoma City Community Foundation, where he served as its board president.
Mr. Records supported several nonprofit organizations throughout Oklahoma City. He also supported the Oklahoma Youth with Promise scholarship fund at the Oklahoma City Community Foundation. Richard Coyle and Carolyn Berry set up this scholarship to help provide scholarships to students who are or have been in the Oklahoma foster care system.
The scholarship has been successful in providing financial assistance to students. It serves as a safety net for students who have overcome incredible odds to further their education beyond high school. Today, Mr. Records continues to support the Youth with Promise Scholarship Fund.
