Grants Available for Lawton Area Nonprofits

Applications are now being accepted for the Lawton Community Grants and Matching Grants programs. Nonprofit organizations from Lawton and the surrounding area are encouraged to apply. The deadline to submit applications is July 1, 2016.

Each year, the Community Grants program awards grants up to $5,000 to nonprofit organizations to support projects that will greatly improve the quality of life and provide opportunities for citizens to improve themselves and their communities. Grants will be awarded to new projects or significant expansions of existing efforts that will positively impact the community. Community Grants are available to qualified nonprofit organizations in the Lawton area for projects that will benefit a broad range of individuals and have matching support from other resources.

The Matching Grants program awards matching dollars up to $5,000 to qualified nonprofits who either have a charitable organization endowment fund at the Lawton Community Foundation or for those who would like to establish one. The organizations are required to raise $5,000 to receive a matching grant between $2,500 and $5,000. The program is limited to nonprofits that provide programs primarily for southwest Oklahoma. Following approval, matching funds will be provided for gifts made to the charitable organization endowment fund within a 12-month period.

“The Lawton Community Foundation is pleased to offer these grant opportunities to area nonprofit organizations,” said Scott Hatch, president of the Lawton Community Foundation. “Through these programs we hope to continue to respond to the changing needs of our community, as well as assist area nonprofits in preparing for the future by building their endowment funds.”

All grant applications must be submitted online by July 1, 2016. Grant guidelines are available at A link to the online grant application is available by emailing Jennifer Stewart and including a brief explanation of the project for which you are seeking the funding.
