Oklahoma City Tornado Recovery Fund and Community Emergency Fund
To assist with intermediate and long-term recovery efforts, you can make a gift to the Oklahoma City Tornado Recovery Fund. Established at the Oklahoma City Community Foundation in May 1999, the fund will direct 100 percent of gifts to assist with the needs of those impacted by the storms.
Gifts to the Community Emergency Fund will be directed to nonprofit organizations who are providing immediate, direct assistance to those impacted by the May 20th tornado.
Contributions to the Oklahoma City Tornado Recovery Fund or Community Emergency Fund may be sent to the Oklahoma City Community Foundation, P.O. Box 1146, Oklahoma City, OK, 73101-1146. To make an online gift visit www.occf.org/tornadorecoveryfund.

2013 Community Foundation Scholars Honored

We are happy to congratulate the 2013 Community Foundation Scholars – 154 high school seniors representing 51 high schools in central Oklahoma. Each student is receiving a $1,500 award to go toward tuition, fees and books at a postsecondary school. We recently hosted several recognition luncheons for the students and their high school guidance counselors. Click here to see the photos from the events.
The Community Foundation Scholars program started in 1998 and to date has awarded in excess of $4.5 million to more than 4,000 worthy students. These scholarships are available thanks to the generosity of donors past and present.

Supporting the Boy Scouts
As a father, B.C. Clark Jr. witnessed firsthand the positive impact the Boy Scouts had on his two sons, Benton and Jim. During their Scouting Days, he was an active volunteer and took part in many weekend camps with the brothers. Read more about his more than 60 years of support for this organization here.
IRA Charitable Rollover Provision Extended
The American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012 included an extension of the IRA charitable rollover provision through Dec. 31, 2013. The IRA charitable rollover allows tax-free distributions of up to $100,000 per taxpayer, per taxable year to an eligible charitable organization such as the Oklahoma City Community Foundation from an IRA held by individuals age 70 1/2 or older. Endowment match nets more than $731,000 for 75 scholarship funds
More than 560 individual gifts from donors helped to increase the fund balances of 75 scholarship endowments by $731,177 during a recent match opportunity offered by the Oklahoma City Community Foundation. The match opportunity was designed to strengthen the impact of the scholarship endowment program that is the state’s largest independent scholarship program. In academic year 2011-2012, the program funded more than $1.4 million in scholarships and awards to 707 students.
“We are pleased to report that 75 scholarship funds received matching gifts and 30 of those endowments completed the match,” president Nancy B. Anthony says. “More importantly, they gained new donors who will hopefully continue to support their endowment.”
For the Moore High School Alumni Association, participating in the match increased its scholarship endowment value by more than $15,000, nearly doubling the fund’s balance. Established in 2005, the scholarship endowment supports an annual award for a graduating senior from Moore High School to pursue post-secondary education.
Judy Rendeluc, president of the association, says that thanks to the match opportunity the association will be able to expand their scholarship program. “It really made a difference for our small organization and will enable us to award an additional scholarship this year,” she says.

Free Resources for Returning College Students at FinishMyDegreeOKC.org
Oklahoma City area adults seeking to finish their college degrees can find helpful resources at FinishMyDegreeOKC.org, a project of the Oklahoma City Community Foundation. Featuring links to more than 20 area accredited schools, colleges and universities, the website includes a calendar of area job and career fairs and an FAQ page with answers to frequently asked questions about financial aid, avoiding “diploma mills” and assistance available for military veterans. The website is a result of our participation in the Talent Dividend Prize competition, a nationwide contest of 57 cities designed to foster college completion efforts.
