Marla Deann Cook was born and raised in rural Oklahoma. From an early age she has had an appreciation and love for nature. Her summers were spent among her grandmothers lush flower gardens; full of the sweet scents of honey suckle vine, sweet peas, garden roses and daffodils. She received her degree from the University of Oklahoma in Art History and Painting. After a successful career as an art curator in Oklahoma, Marla moved to New York City in 2004. Unable to find gainful employment in arts industry, she turned to her first love, flowers. She has studied at the Flower School New York under Felipe Sastre and at Opalia Flowers in Brooklyn. She currently works as a freelance florist for private residences, dinner parties and weddings.
