| Description | The Oklahoma City Boathouse Foundation's mission is to develop and operate facilities and programs to improve the quality of life in Oklahoma City, pursue the highest goals of sports and fitness, attract diverse involvement in the boathouses and related events that generate a positive public image and economic opportunity, and promote the use and development of the Oklahoma River as a world class urban aquatic venue. OKC Boathouse Foundation initiatives currently include youth outreach and high school rowing and kayaking programs; adaptive rowing for the visually impaired; community programs for rowing, kayaking, running and cycling, including several free programs; and the OKC National High Performance Center which provides training for Olympic hopefuls in rowing and canoe/kayak. The OKC Boathouse Foundation also hosts numerous races and regattas, many attracting athletes both nationally and internationally, and it has been named an official U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Training Site. |
